What Remove Background does and when to use it
This tool removes a mostly uniform background by comparing each pixel with a color you select. It is well suited to product shots, icons and scans made against a plain, evenly lit surface. The result is a PNG so removed areas can remain transparent.
Best for
Common uses
- Plain white or single-color product backgrounds
- Simple logos and graphics with clear color separation
- Creating transparent PNG assets locally
Under the hood
How the browser processes it
ResizeImg measures the red, green and blue distance between each pixel and the selected background color. Pixels inside the tolerance become transparent; pixels outside it are preserved. Raising tolerance removes a wider range of shades, while lowering it protects more of the subject.

Tips for a better result
- Sample the dominant background color
- Start with a low tolerance and increase gradually
- Inspect hair, shadows and soft edges before download
Know the limits
What this tool cannot promise
Color-based removal is not semantic AI segmentation. Busy scenes, patterned backgrounds, strong shadows and a subject that shares the background color may need a manual or AI editor. One tolerance value applies across the full image.

Questions and answers
Remove Background FAQ
What images work best?
Images with a flat, evenly lit background that contrasts with the subject work best. Complex scenery may need a dedicated AI or manual editor.
Why did part of the subject disappear?
The selected background color may also exist in the subject. Lower the tolerance until the important area is preserved.
